God in Nature
Wednesday evening at our Midweek Fellowship as we were looking through the promises in Psalms, we stopped and meditated awhile at Psalm 19:1-4 (ESV)…
“The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.
There is no speech, nor are there words,
whose voice is not heard.
Their voice goes out through all the earth,
and their words to the end of the world.”
We talked how the revelation of God is seen in the beauty of nature and how even those without missionaries, churches, or Bibles face the choice of believing in a Creator God.
Well, I thought I would share with you a testimony about this that I heard on a Christian talk radio show this morning. On today’s Sandy Rio’s in the Morning, a radio broadcast that airs on American Family Radio 89.1 each weekday from 7:00 AM – 8:00 AM, the host interviewed a lady who was once an atheist communist in Romania.
In the midst of that interview the former communist, who was a lawyer in Romania, mentioned that no one in her family or circle of associates were Christians nor did anyone she knew believe in God.
She and everyone in her world were atheist, but the first glimmer of God’s convicting influence upon her was her early morning walk to the law office.
She mentioned that her walk to work led into the morning sunrise and it was in contemplating that consistent rising sun, it’s beauty in the sky, and it’s warmth that the thought began to hit her that there must be a God.
The sunrise turned her mind to God, one of her clients turned her to a church, and…well, actually I had to get out of my truck when she got to that point of her story, but it was shaping up that she heard the gospel at that church and at some point responded in believing in Jesus as her Christ.
My point in this post, is to point out that we can certainly believe in the promises of the Bible and that includes Psalm 19:1-4.
