Gratitude and Philippians 4:6-7
This past Sunday I shared with you about Philippians 4:6-7 which states, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (NIV).
I pointed out that this promise of God gives us the antidote to worry and it is gratefulness.
When we are intentional about being thankful, about looking for reasons to be grateful, about counting our blessings, we don’t leave a lot of room for fear or worry to have dominion over us. It may tempt us, but with gratefulness it can not take up residence in our mind.
Our humanness may cause us to entertain worrisome thoughts or to see the glass as half empty, but Philippians 4:6-7 directs us to resist that by going to prayer and being grateful with the blessings that usually get buried under the cares of our day.
