I officiate about 15 – 20 weddings, both large and small, for military serviceman each year. I have only been asked a few times about discounts and when I am asked it reminds me of the question from a wife to her husband: Do these pants make me look fat?
In answer to the question about military discounts for beach weddings…. I have not offered or advertised any military discounts for beach wedding officiating, because my fees are at the minimal amounts necessary for my scheduling- meaning, the demand on my time is such that having time with my wife and family is more valuable than officiating at times.
I officiate for for at least 15 – 20 active duty military each year, mostly from the Air Force in Biloxi, the Navy and Army stationed in Gulfport, the Navy in Pensacola, sometimes even on their bases. These servicemen tell me that my fees are still more reasonable in comparison to other area “officiants” and area wedding vendors who do offer military discounts.
I am a huge supporter of our military, police, fireman, and first responders, Remember, my background is as a hospital chaplain and I have a heart for these noble callings of our society and for those who answer those calls to serve.
I have never been in military service, but my grandfather, father, and older brother have. I chose the path of religious service instead, and I like to think that I enlisted in the Lord’s Army so they can focus on fighting evil in earth’s low places while I focus on fighting evil in heavenly places- which didn’t quite translate for my brother who was an F-16 fighter pilot.
On a final note, our West Mobile Wedding Chapel offers a special sponsored wedding officiating program for wounded warriors, with fees covered by the church I serve as pastor, West Mobile Bible Fellowship.
