Philippians 1
There is a point that I didn’t get to make from Philippians 1 today and it’s in verse 27-28 “Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel, and not frightened in anything by your opponents. This is a clear sign to them of their destruction, but of your salvation, and that from God” (ESV).
There is a huge principle in these verses that when our behavior is a worthy example of the gospel, our life becomes a witness of the gospel message. When we live our lives up to the light God has given us our lives shine a light that witnesses and brings conviction to others.
Namely, it says this…
When we behave like the gospel we claim to believe (“let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that”) those who oppose us are convicted of their own fate in hell (a clear sign to them of their destruction) they are without doubt that we are saved born again genuine believers (but of your salvation) because of the grace of Christ (and that from God).
People want to see changes in us that witness that the gospel is true and that it works.
