Where’s God?
“The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18 NIV
Many are too fast to assume that God is unaware or uninvolved in the affairs of men because they expect Him to show up and show out like a Super Hero from a comic strip dishing out instant justice. The cosmic truth is that our world has been hijacked from a fallen angel and while God has a plan of deliberate means to redeem, it doesn’t include reacting to everyone’s whim of expectation.
God is available to those who seek Him and He is present to those impacted by sin’s harm. In the Auschwitz Nazi concentration camp, where Jews and others were kept for extermination, there is a scribbling on the wall which reads, “God was here.” When we are burdened under the care of illness, experiencing a season of sorrow, or buried under the grief of loss, we can know that God is there.
God has not promised to transform Himself into whatever role we may think He should play, but when we are brokenhearted and crushed in spirit, He is there.
