“say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you.”  — Isaiah 35:4 NIV

In this world we sometimes are left to wonder if evil-doers will ever face justice or if wicked people will ever face the vengeance they deserve for the crimes they seemingly have gotten away with. Survivors and family members often come to the end of their life without the closure they wanted because of the wrongs done by others. While we may not always get to see wrongs made right, we can find some relief in knowing that they day is coming when the Lord returns to earth “with divine retribution” and “vengeance” against those who have brought harm to innocent people.

Not long ago a mother was interviewed on the news because her young daughter was abducted months earlier and it was beginning to look like a crime case gone cold. Through her tears the mother said, “My only sanity is knowing that one day God will bring revenge.”

The day is coming when the Lord returns for deliverance of the saints, but it will simultaneously be a judgement against those who have eluded man’s justice. Psalms 5:3 states “Our God comes and will not be silent; a fire devours before him, and around him a tempest rages” (NIV).
