Overwhelming Love
“Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you.” — Psalm 63:3 NIV
I’m not one who is easily convinced by the stories of people who claim to have died and gone to Heaven, before coming back to life. My hang-up is that none of them remained dead and they all returned to life. To me their stories could just as easily be the imagination of the brain instead of experiencing an actual transportation to Heaven. However, there is one little common detail in these peoples stories that I do find intriguing and that is that nearly all of these afterlife travelers describe an overwhelming sense of love beyond death.
For some of these story tellers it has been amusing listening to them describe that sense of love that they say they had felt. They have called it a different kind of atmosphere or an overpowering feeling surrounding them but nearly all have concluded that the best way they know to describe it is “love.” Not a romantic love but one of a peace and safety as a child who feels loved in the arms of a parent.
I do think Heaven will offer an overwhelming sense of love and I think we can start to take part in it here before then. “Love one another” is a command in the Bible that offers us the way to experience the afterlife, today.
