Behold God
“Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children” — Ephesians 5:1 NIV
The secret to spiritual contentment is not found in joining the solitude life of a monk, or in the amount of money you give to a church, or in a multitude of good deeds. For any of us to know peace and wholeness in the depths of our soul, the secret is in beholding God as a child observers their parents, because it is by beholding that we become changed. As people age they often remark, I am reminding myself of my mom or dad, because as children we learn by observing.
You may ask, How can we behold an unseen God? We behold God by looking into the words of Scripture, which were written to teach us about God. We behold God by studying the life and work of Jesus Christ, who came to show us the Father. We behold God by noticing the beauty and intricate design of all creation, because it displays God’s care and timeless wisdom.
This week, don’t fret when you feel discontentment, but instead turn your eyes and thoughts toward God.
