“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” — Joshua 1:8 NIV

You can always tell what someone is passionate about because they like talking about it. Their words, however, are just the result of constant thoughts on that topic that they are so passionate about. Here, in Joshua 1:8, the Lord is telling us to keep our thoughts on His Word and the result will be our prosperity and success. Otherwise our sinful human nature will have us mentally rehearsing our own negativity.

If we don’t guide our own mind in what we think about, the fears of this world will creep into our thoughts and cripple us from focusing on success. There is no better way to guard the mind than to meditate on just one Bible promise that speaks to you or to follow a verse-a-day devotional.
