Tomorrow
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” — Matthew 6:34 NIV
Sometime back I began to notice something different between me and wife when it came how we approached our days. I noticed that my wife had a unique ability to simply enjoy the activity at hand and not worry about what’s next. She knows how to live fully in the present, while I seemed to be always mentally tuned in to what’s next. While she seemed to be enjoying the journey, I was occupied with worrying about the destination. It hit me that life was passing me by because I was keeping myself from being there in the present.
Worrying about tomorrow often robs us of fully living today. I realize that there are people who may be wasting their present by living in their past, but I think it’s far more wasteful to be living in the future because you never really know when you’ll arrive there. Worry for things that are yet to happen never really have an end. The secret to fully living is to approach life one day at a time, and to fully be present wherever you are today.
This week, be intentional about being present in the moment. Wherever you may be, be fully there and enjoy all that moment has to offer.
