January 1
Begin with God
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1
Begin this year with the God who brought life from the void of the earth and he will bring life from the blank calendar in your days ahead. The new year may cause you to be apprehensive, but whatever may befall, know that you will not be alone. The Creator of time, days, and lives will not leave you. The same Lord who walked with Adam through the unexplored land of Eden will walk with you through the uncharted year ahead.
Faith in God is sometimes easier to hold onto as we travel through the unknown, rather than the known. We would likely be more fearful of the year ahead if we knew the details of each of its days, but instead we have been given opportunity to begin with God.
Let’s pray today that we will not give way to fear for the days ahead, but that we would walk in faith, one day at a time.
January 2
Calvary in Eden
“And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.“ Genesis 3:15
The promise of Christ was declared in Eden, Satan would bruise us but Calvary would stop him in his tracks. Satan’s attack is against our head because he seeks to influence us and ruin our ability to think straight. The devil doesn’t outright destroy us, but he deceives us and little by little draws our affection away from the Savior. However, the promise is sure, the crushing bruise against his heel will bring Satan to his end.
Sinfulness has become the default position of our fallen nature but thankfully the prophesied promise of the coming Christ would beat Satan at his own game of temptation by teaching us to counter with faith in Calvary.
Let’s pray today to trust in the promise given at Eden, that Satan will be crushed and our Savior redeems.
January 3
Creator of the Climate
“As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.” Genesis 8:22
The Creator of the climate says the seasons will not cease and that stands as a testament to His care for us into the future. Our God is the Creator of the earth and the times are in His hands. We respect the environment, but we do not worship creation above the Creator. Satan can create nothing but lies and while he does seek to arouse confusion through convincing voices, take heart that God’s Word is certain and sure.
Life has enough worries of its own packed into its 24 hours but the world is bent on adding to our fears. Nature, has a Creator and He has promised that the climate will not cease its purpose of sustaining life.
Let’s pray today that we may trust in the word of God and not fear for our planet but for our souls.
January 4
God’s Sign
“I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.” Genesis 9:15
The rainbow stands in the sky as a sign that the Creator God will be patient with mankind until the day of the Lord. He will not halt all life on earth, as He did during the days of the flood, until the end of all that is prophesied in Daniel and Revelation. He wants us to trust Him as the covenant keeping God and be saved in Jesus just as Noah was saved in the ark.
Like the days of Noah, we must find safety in the ark of Jesus Christ or be left to parish in our own unrepentant sins, but in that approaching day the cleansing will not be by flood but by the renewing fire that will make all things new.
Let’s pray today to remember God’s covenant when we see His rainbow in the sky.
January 5
God’s Nation
“I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” Genesis 12:3
The nation of Israel has long been in Satan’s cross hairs because God has promised to bless those who bless Israel. Of course, the opposite is true, because those who curse Israel are themselves cursed. You can’t ignore history. Israel has had God’s divine hand against the wicked who have sought to exterminate, terrorize, and kill the earthly family chosen by Heaven to bless the world.
The church of Jesus Christ is grafted in as spiritual Israel but like a loving parent who weeps and still works for their prodigal, God’s favor has not been withdrawn from the nation that stands as an oasis of blessing in a warring Middle East.
Let’s pray today for the people of Israel to come to know Jesus as their personal Messiah.
January 6
The Self-Evident God
“God said to Moses, “I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.” Exodus 3:14
The God of the Bible is self-evident, timeless, eternal, unchanging, and forever faithful to His own word. Just as you can not look at a building and deny the existence of an architect, neither can you honestly look upon creation and deny the existence of a God who was, is, and yet to be. The God we serve may be beyond our finite mind’s comprehension, but He is also beyond all possible doubt.
The true God is not hidden or out of reach. The true God is self-defined by His Word and by His own creation, just look at the colorful flowers of the fields, the majesty of the mountain range, or the beauty of the sunset beyond the soft sands of a warm beach.
Let’s pray today that we always remember we serve a God who is faithful to His promises.
January 7
Follow in Faith
“Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.” Exodus 4:12
Excuses are for our own convincing when we are afraid to commit, but God works with our frailty and leads only as we follow in faith. Moses didn’t think he was the man God needed but that is precisely why God was able to use him. We ought not to rely on our own abilities when we are to act for God’s glory, but in our faithful action He leads and empowers us.
We follow in faith believing that God will do what we can not do for ourselves. There is no impediment to our physical body or human life that the Lord can not turn around as a witness for His glory and as a reminder for us to stay reliant on Him.
Let’s pray today that we may be ready to respond to our Lord’s commands in faithful obedience.
January 8
Redemption from Judgment
“The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt.” Exodus 12:13
The Passover still reminds us that without the shedding of blood there can be no redemption from judgment. The blood was not from the Israelite’s themselves, but from a perfect lamb who was the sacrifice and by nature of the very sacrifice it is salvation by grace through faith in the word of God. God’s people were saved from judgment by the blood of the Lamb.
Jesus is the perfect Lamb of God whose blood was shed for our sins that we may pass from death to life. Ours is a death that is due us because of willful sinning, but eternal life is a gift that is appropriated through faith in the blood shed by Jesus.
Let’s pray today that we may trust in the blood of the Lamb of God for salvation and from judgment.
January 9
The Lord our Healer
“If you listen carefully to the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you.” Exodus 15:26
There are physical benefits to the principles and precepts of the Bible, including belief in the Lord our Healer. When we follow Jesus we enjoy a new life that rejects things that war against life. Yes, we still have a sinful nature and we battle to live right but as the Holy Spirit leads we begin to follow His convictions, and that includes choosing what’s best for the life God gave us now.
Sometimes the most strict of health practices can still leave us vulnerable to sickness and diseases, because we are fallen humans in a fallen world. Thankfully, our Lord is our Creator, Healer, and the great Physician whom we can turn to in all our infirmaries.
Let’s pray today that we may follow our Lord’s lead in healthful choices and look toward Him when we are ill.
January 10
The Law of God
“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.” Exodus 20:2
The 10 Commandments were given to a people redeemed from bondage that they may now live accordingly and not like they are still in bondage. When we have fallen at the foot of the Cross and have seen our sin in the nailed scarred hands of the Savior, we will rightly understand the law as the reflection of God’s righteous character. Though our sinful hearts fail to measure up, we plead the promise of grace and the power of the Holy Spirit.
We serve a Lord of law and order, not one of changing feelings or questionable temperament that leaves us guessing about His mood. In the 10 Commandments we see the behavior standard the Spirit of God is seeking to build in our lives.
Let’s pray today that we grow in grace and in a relationship with God’s Spirit so we uphold His law in our lives.
January 11
Lessons on Life
“Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.” Exodus 20:12
To honor family, respect marriage, and love your parents as you can is to further your posterity and prosperity. We may not have the perfect lineage, but by our Heavenly Father we can appreciate the good qualities and godly intentions of those that brought us into this world. Every happy and successful adult was first a grateful child who heeded a parent’s lesson on life.
Respecting the divine structure of the family leads to the quality of life that our Lord wants us to live. The influence handed down to us is what we tend to pass on to our children, good or bad, but if that is less than ideal, we can change that by doing our life in Christ.
Let’s pray today that those with ungodly parents will come to terms regarding that, with their Father in Heaven.
January 12
Peace of God
“The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Exodus 33:14
How do people live without God or go through the grief of life without the presence of God’s peace? It’s a rhetorical question but one that a believer in the Lord finds difficult to answer. There is no true life, at least a life of peace, without the presence of the Lord to comfort, guide, and strengthen when the walls of this world crumble about us. Without the Lord there is restlessness that knows no satisfaction.
The genuine Christian life is one that intentionally invites the Lord’s presence into every aspect of our life. It is including the Word of the Lord into our daily thoughts and weighing every decision we face in light of it. It is finding rest from our cares by turning to the Lord daily in prayer.
Let’s pray today for the peace of God’s presence to give us rest for the trials of life.
January 13
Blessings of His Name
“So they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.” Numbers 6:27
Where the name of the Lord is cherished, the presence of the Lord is free to bless His people in fellowship. Our God inhabits the praise of His people, and like the priesthood of the Israelites, pastors today are called to pray the blessings of the Lord among the fellowship they shepherd. The name of the Lord is the very character of our God and in His name is His presence.
Our homes and our churches should be all about embracing our identity as a child of God and lifting up the name of our Lord in teaching, worship, prayer, and conversations. When we do, we will see God’s blessings.
Let’s pray today that we may choose to praise the name of Jesus in our daily conversations.
January 14
The Lord Provider
“But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.” Deuteronomy 8:18
Every good thing comes from the Lord, so if every bad thing is coming your way, first check with the Lord. There are hardships that befall the best of God’s people, but even in lean times we can find contentment. When life seems to be a sequence of down turns the solution is not in complaining but in turning to the Lord and seeing what lesson is meant to be learned. Seek the Lord’s face and His hand will be open to you.
Resolve to be grateful to God every time you have gains and provisions, and voice that appreciation to others as a testimony to His goodness. In making a habit of recognizing your Provider, it will keep your focus on Him and away from your wants.
Let’s pray today that we may resist blaming or excuses, and humbly turn to the Lord for our needs.
January 15
Rejection of Jesus
“If you ever forget the Lord your God and follow other gods and worship and bow down to them, I testify against you today that you will surely be destroyed.” Deuteronomy 8:19
Hell is for those who intentionally reject the truth as it is in Jesus and willfully follow the lies of Satan. The devil tempts men to turn from the common sense of the Bible. Men who rave about falsehoods of other men, who will perish in hell, not because they believe the obvious lies but because they reject the Lord Jesus Christ and all who stand with Him in truth.
Our only safeguard in our spiritual journey is in Scripture. As we spend time in God’s Word and grow in its counsel and as we depend more on claiming the promises of God found through its pages, the more consistent our faith in Jesus Christ becomes.
Let’s pray today that we will fix our eyes on Jesus and not turn from His Word.
January 16
Godly Men
“Be careful to obey all these regulations I am giving you, so that it may always go well with you and your children after you, because you will be doing what is good and right in the eyes of the Lord your God.” Deuteronomy 12:28
Obedience to God’s word and choosing right is the best way for men to strengthen their children’s character. If a man will fall for anything, if he lives a weak life, if he is indecisive or always making poor decisions, he will be successful with at least one thing and that is teaching his children to do the same. Being a godly man doesn’t mean being perfect but it means you know the One who is.
If you are a wife or a child, you are not exempt from a man’s godly influence, because you can impact your husbands, fathers, and male leaders within your lives at church, school, and community through the power of prayer.
Let’s pray today that we may encourage the men in our lives to obey God at all cost and at all times.
January 17
Blessings Where Planted
“The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your fellow Israelites. You must listen to him.” Deuteronomy 18:15
The grass may appear greener on the other side, but it is where you are planted that you will find God’s blessings. Moses told the Israelites that his successor would come from among them, and that principle is true for most of God’s blessings. Stop thinking “if only I’d” and start saying “thank you Lord” for blessing me right where I am.
Be faithful with what you are entrusted with and be patient about waiting for what God places before you next, and in the meantime honor those who hold the position of authority you may want, because God blesses according to where we are now not where we want to be.
Let’s pray today that we would stop gazing at circumstances and start fixing our eyes on Jesus the Lord.
January 18
In God’s Strength
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6
Too often we concern ourselves with others when God asks that we just concern ourselves with Him. Do not give your enemies, people or otherwise, credit beyond what they deserve, but put them in their place, beneath and subject to the God you serve. Face the day in the Lord’s strength and be courageous in His character, not yours, for your God is with you.
David didn’t bring down Goliath by admiring how big he was, but by focusing on how big his God was. He didn’t even focus on his own weakness, but he found his strength and courage in knowing that the Lord was going with him and would help him.
Let’s pray today that we will depend on the Lord’s strength and go confidently forward in Him.
January 19
God is with You
“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8
Don’t draw back from your future but draw closer to God because He has promised to be with you. You may feel alone, you may wonder if anyone cares, you may fell like no one notices your trials or recognizes the same obstacles you are facing, but the Alpha and the Omega, the God who went with Moses and is returning to reign is with you.
This means that the Lord will not lead you somewhere that He has never been. Is your journey taking you through grief, or pain, or deep sorrow? He has been there, He knows the emotions you face, and that is why He is there with you.
Let’s pray today that when we feel neglected by others we may turn to God and find comfort.
January 20
Promised Land
“I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses.” Joshua 1:3
The enemies of Israel complain about their land, but God has given them borders beyond what they occupy now. Satan and those who follow him tend to blame Israel for all things evil, though they themselves are the purveyors of wickedness. God will not tolerate the nations suppressing His children forever but will soon answer them in His wrath.
Just as God led the Israelite’s conquest of heathen nations into the promised land, so He will lead us through these difficult times into our eternal promised land of a New Earth and New Jerusalem.
Let’s pray today for the peace of Jerusalem and the conversion of Jews to their Messiah.
January 21
Meditate on Scripture
“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” Joshua 1:8
The secret to experiencing the power of God’s word is in mediating upon its verses, day in and day out. We do not need to enroll in theological seminary coursework in order to grow in faith, but we do need to regularly fill ourselves with the Bible, little by little, and as we progress in our life we will draw from its well of wisdom, truth, and promises.
It is not always in deep topical study comparing verses as proof texts that we grow in our faith, but it is also by the practice of contemplation of a single verse that we find guiding truth to live by and to draw from.
Let’s pray today that we may be faithful to meditate on the word of God and allow its truth to soak in.
January 22
Courageous Leaders
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
God’s people are in want of leaders who are courageous in their calling and not cowardly in an oppressive culture. We are a people among a wicked world that promotes individual weakness by dumbing down education and legislating political expediency at the expense of truth. The wicked threaten, shame, and blame the righteous, but they can not stand against us when we are strong in our Lord Jesus Christ.
To know God is to be courageous in His might, not ours. It is impossible to go through the pages of Scripture without taking away a confidence in God’s willingness to go with us wherever we may go.
Let’s pray today that we may stand strong for God and firm in the power of His strength.
January 23
God Prevails
“He will guard the feet of his faithful servants, but the wicked will be silenced in the place of darkness.” 1 Samuel 2:9
A man may force his wickedness upon you, but he is no match before your God who has the final judgment. Even if an evil man prevails through violence or any means that oppress and overtakes your God given rights, know that death itself is not the end. Our God will have the final say in all human affairs and only we who trust in the Lord will be redeemed.
The victory of God over evil may not come as quickly as we want, but it will be a forever victory. Satan will be silenced and the meticulous working of the plan of redemption will cause us to praise the wisdom of God throughout ceaseless ages.
Let’s pray today that we may put our trust in the Lord to vindicate us and His saints when the wicked assault us.
January 24
The Softening Spirit
“The Spirit of the Lord will come powerfully upon you, and you will prophesy with them; and you will be changed into a different person.” 1 Samuel 10:6
God prepares us for His assignments by giving us the Holy Spirit which births in us a new heart for that work. When we respond to follow God we receive a new compassion, a new passion, a new life. Jesus doesn’t change, but with Jesus we change. The Holy Spirit softens our hard disposition and warms our cold attitudes into a new outlook that sees as our Lord sees.
The Spirit of God and His leading in our lives is something that we should earnestly pray for, so we may walk in a Christlike power. By the influence and direction of the Spirit the words of God are made plain and our steps are made certain.
Let’s pray today to allow the Holy Spirit to soften our hardened hearts so that we may be used by Him.
January 25
Praying for Others
“As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by failing to pray for you. And I will teach you the way that is good and right.” 1 Samuel 12:23
No one is helpless to aid another when they are a believer in the prayer answering God of the Bible. You might not have the money to give or a skill to use or a talent to share or the right word to comfort a neighbor in need, but what you do have is a ministry of prayer. The same God who answers your prayers for you is able to answer your prayers for another.
Your intercession on behalf of another could be the very thing the Lord is waiting for so He may act on their behalf. Prayer is our means of invitation for the Spirit of God to intervene against strongholds that are crippling the lives of others.
Let’s pray today that we would be faithful in praying for others in need.
January 26
Remembering His Blessings
“The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.” 1 Samuel 17:37
Remembering how the Lord has led you in your past will strengthen your faith for your future. In fact, there is nothing to fear about facing tomorrow’s challenges except that we forget how our Lord has led us through yesterday’s challenges. When we share the blessings of God in our life with family and friends, it becomes easier to remember His goodness as we face problems.
We can easily forget the goodness of the Lord, especially when the cares of the world pressure us, but that is the time we need to reflect on His leading in our past. Keeping the leading of the Lord fresh in our mind will help fuel our faith in the future.
Let’s pray today that we may remember and share the Lord’s blessings that our faith will be strong.
January 27
God is in Control
“Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all.” 1 Chronicles 29:12
God rules over both the wicked and the righteous, and He blesses who He wishes according to His will. We are sometimes bewildered at a wicked man’s success and forget to consider that God’s will for that is unknown to us. We wonder how some get elevated above the righteous and forget that God has a plan that we do not know.
It is not always clear why a good man can fall from authority and an evil man can ascend to authority. What we can be certain of is that God is in control and like the movement of chess pieces on a board, God has an ultimate end in mind.
Let’s pray today that we may find hope in knowing that our Lord is aware of earth’s events and He is in control.
January 28
A Humble Nation
“if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14
Our nation is lost without a people willing to humble themselves before the God who forgives and heals. A humble heart is willing to lay aside self and receive the Savior Jesus Christ. Being humble is how we get honest with our sin and how we desire the righteousness of Christ and the grace of Calvary, and that is how we influence our nation for His Kingdom.
Men can not turn from their pride and pursuit of political power without the conviction of the Holy Spirit descending upon them, and that is why we must labor for those who lead through prayer and intercession.
Let’s pray today that we will back down from self exultation and humbly stand at Calvary.
January 29
Staying Close to God
“The Lord is with you when you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.” 2 Chronicles 15:2
Don’t get into a crisis and wonder why God seems absent when you’ve spent years running from Him. God operates by the principle of love not force, and He will not impose His righteousness upon you when you have been sticking your wickedness in His eye. Salvation is a gift, but it is a gift that can’t be received by a heart that is forced and unable to appreciate its value.
Until we realize that we are sinful in our own right, and not capable of obtaining a perfect character worthy of our entrance into Heaven, then we can repent from running away from God and do a u-turn right into His forgiveness and gift of grace.
Let’s pray today that we may have a willing humble heart to stay close to God in good and tough times.
January 30
Future Rewards
“But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.” 2 Chronicles 15:7
Doing the right thing takes courage and being courageous starts when we recognize the reward is future. The lazy man wants the pay day before the work week and the reaping before the sowing. However for the godly man and woman facing challenges, they seek God’s glory now by knowing their rewards in the future.
It is human to want to walk away, to want the easy way, or to resist the longest path, but we are not aiming for an earthly award — we are putting our sights on an eternal life in an eternal home where the trials of this world will be no more.
Let’s pray today to find courage in our Lord’s strength and be patient for a reward in heaven.
January 31
Being Joyless
“Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10
When we are joyless we can turn to our Lord on Calvary and allow His joy to fill our mind, hearts, and soul. When sadness sinks us low in despair or we fear for our future, it is in Jesus that we can be lifted by His love, His righteousness, His salvation. Out of the pain of the cross comes joy that lasts and strength to know that we too will not just survive but thrive in eternity.
In the experiences of humanity there is a time for grieving our losses, but at some point we must raise our eyes upon the Lord and accept His strength. Jesus knows our sorrows and in these times of sadness we will find His arms outstretched to us.
Let’s pray today that we will not remain in despair but will turn to the Lord and find strength in His joy.
February 1
Threats and Accusations
“You will be protected from the lash of the tongue, and need not fear when destruction comes.” Job 5:21
Men may talk evil of you and lie about you, but their threats and accusations sow their own destruction. Sinful men may bear down on a righteous man with hurtful words and harmful weapons but their temporal power can not prevent God’s wrath as He protects and avenges His saints. When the tongue of the wicked assaults, take refuge in the Lord who upholds you.
Men who resort to threatening, accusing, and harming as their means of expressing disagreement are merely showing their disdain for God and His laws, but know that He sees the truth and He will vindicate you.
Let’s pray today to take solace in the Lord, even when others talk and act against us.
February 2
Peace from Repentance
“Submit to God and be at peace with him; in this way prosperity will come to you.” Job 22:21
If peace of mind alludes you and discontent is the norm, it may be time to change course and align your life with God’s Word. If your life is unbecoming to you, it’s time to be coming to Jesus Christ. Yes, bad things do happen to good people, but why would you want your life out of God’s will, especially if it just increases those bad opportunities for you? You can be at peace with yourself, others, and God now, if you will repent and turn to Him.
When we seek the Lord’s will for our lives and recognize that we need to make a u-turn and change a behavior or pattern in our life, don’t worry about the criticism of others and don’t forget that the Spirit of God will be with you along the way.
Let’s pray today that we will turn from waywardness and follow our Lord and His word.
February 3
Backslidden from God
“If you return to the Almighty, you will be restored: If you remove wickedness far from your tent.” Job 22:23
If you’ve backslidden down to the deepest hole, you are still not too far down for the grace of God to lift you out. The Spirit of the Lord can reach you, lift you, and rebuild you. You can have a testimony of God’s saving grace that no other can have. The lost see where you have been and as they watch the transforming power of God in your life and long for that in theirs.
The grace of Christ will not leave you to struggle on your own as you aim to live for Him. Walking away from sin is not dependent on us exerting whatever discipline we think we can conjure up, but by resolutely walking toward the Lord Jesus Christ.
Let’s pray today for the convicting Spirit of God to work with those who have wondered far from God.
February 4
Youth Who Thrive
“That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.” Psalm 1:3
Blessed are the youth who have been planted in the rich soil of God’s word, because their life will thrive. The greatest influence a parent can have on their children is a love and respect for the Bible as God’s authoritative word. Their future will be less likely to be influenced by Satan’s course when they have been planted on the path of the Savior and His grace.
It is never too late for a parent to turn to the Lord or to admit to their children that they failed in building a biblical foundation at home, but it is always a powerful witness of the redeeming work of Christ.
Let’s pray that we may impart the truth as it is in Jesus to the youth in our lives.
February 5
Absence of Wicked Men
“For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.” Psalm 1:6
The good news about bad news is it will not last forever, because the wicked will not last forever. Soon the righteous will no longer be subjected to evil men who force their selfish will upon their neighbors through crime, violence, and false accusations. The deeds of the wicked will finally be absent from our conversations, our lives, and our world because in Heaven the former things will be no more.
We may be forced to endure undeserved hardship and dishonest ridicule but it can only last a season. Our earthly lives are but a vapor compared to the ceaseless eternal ages of peace that we will have in Heaven.
Let’s pray today that the injustice and wickedness of our world will not take our eyes off Heaven.
February 6
The God of Prayer
“The Lord has heard my cry for mercy; the Lord accepts my prayer.” Psalm 6:9
God always hears our prayer when it is within His will, best for us now, and advances the gospel. God welcomes all and every prayer we may offer, but we ought not expect our every wish to be validated by Him. We think in terms limited by time and selfishness, but our God has the far superior perspective of being all wise and knowing, and that is why we ultimately can only pray to Him.
Prayer is the answer to our quest for relief, our need for forgiveness, and our desire for divine intervention in the crushing circumstances of life. Men may help, but only the God of creation can answer our prayers.
Let’s pray today that we always recognize the will of our God in our prayers for ourselves.
February 7
Stronghold of Jesus
“The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.” Psalm 9:9
When the circumstances of life are battering against you like a ship on rough seas, Jesus is your stronghold. You can find a shelter in Him that is secure, safe, and peaceful despite the storms that rage on the outside. You can come to Him wet and worn out, you can come to Him tired and without hope, you can come to Him however your trials have battered, but by all means, come to Jesus.
When the waters of life are smooth and relaxing, don’t neglect communing with your Savior through prayer and Bible study. Walking with the Lord in the good times will put you close to Him when times of troubles arise.
Let’s pray today that those who we know and love will find shelter in the stronghold of Jesus Christ.
February 8
The Name of Jesus
“Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.” Psalm 9:10
Jesus is the only name this earth has known that stands as a testimony of righteousness and salvation. We pray in Jesus’ name because none compare to what He did for us at Calvary by paying the price we could not and would not in order to become the second Adam. There are many gods who claim to be superior but all bow to the only God who is worthy of all glory, and His name is Jesus Christ.
No other but Jesus can offer sinful man full forgiveness, the cloak of His righteousness before the judgment, and redemption from the condition of our fallen planet that leads to an eternity in a New Earth and a New Heaven.
Let’s pray today that our lips may speak the name of Jesus more often as a testimony to the Lord.
February 9
Keep Jesus Before You
“I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” Psalm 16:8
If you put your relationship with the Lord front and center of your life, you will never have to wonder where He is. Too many people decide to find Christ only after the other solutions don’t work. You will find Christ when you are down, but if you keep Him before you in your heart, mind, and soul you will be one step ahead of the struggle with your Lord before you.
Anyone at any time in their life can make the decision to invite the Lord to lead them. Seek Him and you will find Him in the Bible and in prayer. Begin by reading through the book of John, and by simply opening your heart in prayer.
Let’s pray today that we may keep Jesus first so He is always there, in good times and bad.
February 10
Christ in our Lives
“You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.” Psalm 16:11
Without the Lord Jesus Christ in your life you will likely feel aimless, unsure of your purpose, and never satisfied. Yes, followers of the Lord do have moments and seasons of grappling to make sense of life, but we have an overarching peace as we know to run back to Calvary. With Christ in your life there is a stronghold of security and a joy that always hopes beyond the happenings of this world.
Do not wait until you have achieved contentment or arrive at some predetermined spiritual indicator before you allow Christ into your life, because that is putting the cart before the horse. Allow the Lord to lead and you will have these things.
Let’s pray today to keep Jesus close in our lives as we seek Him daily through prayer and Scripture.
February 11
Jesus First
“As for me, I will be vindicated and will see your face; when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness.” Psalm 17:15
We may seek to model our lives after a mentor or a parent we admire, but ultimately our energy and focus should be in making Jesus first. The Christian goal is Christ-likeness. Don’t give up your divine inheritance for a temporal promise of a bigger paycheck, more material gains, or public notoriety. Be excellent at your craft or profession, but please do not compromise your calling to arise in the resurrection in His likeness.
Some will gain the world and lose their soul and for them it means the second resurrection. As for you, choose life by putting Jesus first and you will awake in the first resurrection of the saved and the eternal reward of seeing His face.
Let’s pray today that Jesus stays first in our attitude, business, and relationships.
February 12
Small Sins
“Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then I will be blameless, innocent of great transgression.” Psalm 19:13
It is the little liberties with seemingly insignificant sins that lead to the out of control sinful habits of rebellion. Don’t ignore the convicting power of the Holy Spirit upon your life and don’t underestimate the wickedness of small sins, because if you allow your conscience to be seared in small sins it will easily welcome the big sins, which have the weightier chains.
The promise of forgiveness and restoration of righteousness in the eyes of our ultimate Judge is applicable to our private life as it is to our public life. The all-seeing and all-knowing God extends the same grace as often as we run to Christ.
Let’s pray today that as the Holy Spirit brings conviction to our hearts we will stop, turn, and find grace.
February 13
One World Government
“All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations will bow down before him.” Psalm 22:27
When the Kingdom of God is established on earth and the tribulation is past, the Lord Jesus Christ will reign. Some worry about the one world government of the Antichrist, but we ought to be longing for the one world government of King Jesus when sin is banished and His righteousness reigns across the globe and He is worshiped across the families, peoples, and nations of the earth.
The Lord Jesus is returning soon, and while we may find reason to shutter at the signs unfolding around us that point to escalating troubles ahead, our hope is not in the signs but in the Savior.
Let’s pray today that we may confidently live as citizens of the King – King Jesus the Righteous.
February 14
We are Sheep
“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.” Psalm 23:1
We are like sheep, and like sheep, if we don’t have a shepherd to lead us we are doomed to be devoured. The good news is that God sent His Son to be our Shepherd and lead us through dangerous landscapes of a world with a lion seeking whom he may devour. So don’t be so swift to think you can do it alone or choose your own path or go in a direction untested.
Staying with the Shepherd sent to save us is how we stay safe, protected from wolves, and led to green fields and freshwater. With the Lord always leading before us we may not have everything we want, but we will have what we need.
Let’s pray today that we may remain closely focused on the leading of the Shepherd.
February 15
The Darkest Valley
“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4
For us whose Shepherd is the Lord, even the darkest of circumstances is only a shadow of what those without Jesus experience. Our Shepherd does not leave us, but stays close, though we may walk through the deepest of valleys. Satan will lie about being with you, but when death calls, he’ll be of no help and nowhere to be found.
The Lord Jesus came to earth, walked where we walked, lived how we live, and knows the struggles we know. Just as Heaven did not forsake Jesus in His darkest valley, neither will Jesus forsake us in ours.
Let’s pray today that we steadfastly follow the Lord our Shepherd through every valley of life.
February 16
Humility or Hell
“He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way.” Psalm 25:9
If we are not humbled under the headship of the Lord Jesus Christ, our conceited hearts will lead us to hell. A boastful man can not accept help or guidance, but a humble man is willfully able to accept Christ’s grace and freely learn of Him. A man who is self-absorbed with a false sense of self-importance, will go to his grave unrepentant unless he encounters the Lord.
Satan wants us to remain unteachable and unaware of our own need for a Savior. He is content to lead the best of us into self-centered religious legalism, because the focus on self, not on the grace of Jesus Christ, stands against humility.
Let’s pray today that we may resist the temptation of selfishness and find humility in Christ.
February 17
Friends with Jesus
“The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them.” Psalms 25:14
Friendship is a mutual relationship of love and respect, which is what God desires to have with us. Our God does not sit passively awaiting homage, but He is an interpersonal God who cares and is involved in our lives. Look no further than His Son Jesus for assurance that as He lived in friendship with the twelve, He will also live in friendship with you.
The Christian faith is having a relationship with the Creator of all things, and it is a relationship that He pursues with us. The Lord left the glories of Heaven to have a relationship with fallen man, that you and I may know Him as our Friend.
Let’s pray today that we may live and act in faith as a friend of the Lord Jesus Christ.
February 18
God’s Shelter
“For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock.” Psalm 27:5
When we get to heaven we may finally realize how often God’s providence and angels intervened to save us. There can be no fear for our future when we are reminded of our Lord’s mercy and His leading in our life. Scripture is a testament to God’s shaping of the circumstances faced by the saints throughout the ages, so face your day confident in Jesus Christ.
There is eternal safety in the dwelling of the Lord, but its doorway is open to any who seek Him and His shelter. Mortal man may bring trouble to us, but no man can prevent us from the immortal life our God gives us.
Let’s pray today that we may recognize and give praise to our Lord for his leading in our life.
February 19
Your Father in Heaven
“Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me.” Psalm 27:10
If you are living life without your parent’s presence, love, or involvement, turn to your Father in Heaven. The God of Creation waits with open arms as a righteous Father who desires to care, help, and lead His children. Your parents may have not painted a clear picture for you of God’s love, but for whatever reason, remind yourself that they were human and your Heavenly Father is not.
It is often said that after our parents die there is an odd sense of feeling orphaned, even as an older adult. However, we need to remind ourselves that we have been adopted into the family of God and prayer is how we call home.
Let’s pray today that our parent’s good influence will live on and our Father God will be glorified.
February 20
While We Wait
“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” Psalm 27:14
Waiting tries our patience and can leave us discouraged unless we take that time for communion with Jesus. We wait on cashiers, we wait on services, we even wait on answers to prayer. We wait everyday on something or someone, but rather than waiting on them we ought to wait on the Lord. Every delay is a call to prayer and intercession on behalf of those around us.
There is strength in prayer and encouragement for our soul. When we give our attention to communing with the Lord and interceding for those about us, we are not feeding our anxiety or discontent from waiting.
Let’s pray today in times of waiting and for those whom we wait on in the marketplace.
February 21
No More Sorrow
“For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.” Psalm 30:5
The Christian knows that sorrow and trials of sin are temporary, but the joy of eternal life will be forever. Seventy years on earth in sin will be incomparable to seventy billion years and more in heaven under the righteous favor of our Lord Jesus Christ. We may hurt for a season now, but we will rejoice forevermore when we are with our Lord.
It sometimes helps to remind ourselves how fast time flies from our childhood to adulthood to old age, because it puts into perspective that we are that much closer to our eternal home where we will have a forever lifetime of no more sorrow.
Let’s pray today that we may find comfort in knowing that when Jesus returns we will cease weeping and begin rejoicing.
February 22
God Beside Us
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” Psalm 32:8
The Spirit of God does not lead you from a distance, but He is with you and guides you from along beside you. There is no risk of transmitting needed data when it comes to God’s deciphering of how He can help us with what is going on in our world. Through the person of the Holy Spirit, God is right where you are and He has first-hand knowledge of circumstances that trouble you, so know that you are not alone.
Our God is not peering from behind a distant cloud, but is close and present with you. While that does mean that you can’t hide anything from Him, it also means that He is aware of your struggles and an ever present help.
Let’s pray today that we would find comfort knowing that our God is with us as we walk through our day.
February 23
The Lord Delivers
“The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.” Psalm 34:7
Our Lord delights in protecting and delivering His people from the aggression of His enemies. He always comes through for His followers, sometimes immediately and dramatically, or other times it happens in the future at the same perfect timing of His return for the church or coming for the saints at the end of the age, but always know that your Lord will deliver.
The day will likely come when we are in Heaven that angels will show us a playback of how they protected us from an otherwise certain disaster. Thankfully, the Lord and His angels encamp around His own as an ever-vigilant military fortress.
Let’s pray today that we trust in the Lord to deliver us in His time and in His way.
February 24
Righteous by Grace
“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.” Psalm 34:17
We are righteous in God’s sight because we personally claim the life and sacrifice of Jesus Christ by faith. We are not righteous in our own doings or by our own being, otherwise we would have no reason to cry out in help. We are a people living by grace, day by day. We live by faith and not by our own works or reason, so in our need we call out to our Lord and He delivers us.
God could be presented as a Father leaning toward His children with a listening ear and a heart ready to act on behalf of those whose faith seeks Him. His mercy is great toward His saints and His name upon them will always be vindicated.
Let’s pray today that as troubles arise we turn to the Lord God Almighty for help and deliverance.
February 25
God of Compassion
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18
We serve the God of compassion and when life leaves us lonely and feeling abandoned, He is present. When it’s just you, your tears, and a cold pillow, the Lord comforts you. When the shock of horrible news leaves you collapsed in weakness, the Lord will lift you up. Our God does not run when our troubles arise, nor does He vanish when life becomes overwhelming.
Unlike other gods, our God endured the injustice that pierced His Son and He knows the agony common to our humanity. Our God does not turn from us in painful times, He moves near to us and compassionately lifts our spirit.
Let’s pray today to walk close with the Lord in good times and never forget His presence in bad times.
February 26
Deliverance in Trials
“The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all.” Psalm 34:19
The believer in Christ Jesus is not promised a life without trials, just the deliverance from trials. Deliverance will come, but don’t be discouraged when it seems yet far off, because we will spend much more time in eternity than we are putting up with in the trials on earth. Sometimes deliverance comes quickly and sometimes it comes in the resurrection, but either way it will come.
Regardless of the trial that is pressing against us, we can have hope as we hold onto Jesus through faith and prayer. Trials will not go with us to Heaven, but the character we strengthen through them will.
Let’s pray today that we may always hold on to hope in every trial of life, knowing deliverance will come.
February 27
Trust in Jesus
“Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.” Psalm 37:3
To be in the world but not of it is to be faithful to the Lord Jesus Christ because He is your true safety. Some will put their arms up in welcoming you, some will put their arms around you in comfort, but only Jesus put His arms up on a cruel Roman cross for you. The Lord desires an eternal friendship with you that is beyond the temporary satisfaction of this world.
As we trust in the Lord, the inclination of our heart will be to do good towards others as we have opportunity. As we trust in the Lord, the end result of walking by faith with Him will be an eternity of dwelling in a safe land.
Let’s pray today that we would spend time with Jesus and trust in Him.
February 28
God Provides
“Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4
Stop obsessing about what you think you need and start focusing on the Lord who provides your needs. The want of your heart will be provided, if it is a desire that aligns with God’s will and word, but He is the Giver of all good things. He is the God who answers prayer. Don’t manipulate that thing into your life, but allow the Lord to work it out as He sees fit.
When the desire of our heart is received by the providence of God, it is much sweeter when it’s finally ours. Our duty is not to fix our energy and focus on the want, but on the Provider by seeking Him first so that these things will follow by His grace.
Let’s pray today that we may lay our plans and desires out before our Lord and seek His answers.
February 29
When Evil Prevails
“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.” Psalm 37:7
Do not let the evil doer steal your peace and shake your faith when they prevail in their wicked ways. The wicked may taunt you with their wealth and achievements, but they will face the judgment of God. You may lack and want, but the Lord knows and His plan for your future exceeds your best imagination, so when evil men confront, be still and wait for the Lord to take revenge.
If you find yourself struggling with maintaining righteousness despite being subjected to the ridicule of those prevailing in wickedness, remind yourself that their worldly assent is all they have but you have eternal Heaven in your future.
Let’s pray today that we may stand strong in the Lord and not lose heart when evil men prevail.
March 1
Best Choices
“Better the little that the righteous have than the wealth of many wicked.” Psalm 37:16
The best choices in life are not to be defined by the majority, popularity, or prosperity, but by the Bible. If we filter every decision we face through the lens of the teachings and principles of Scripture than we act with the promises of God to lead, sustain, and guide our steps. Our joy is not dependent on circumstances, but in our faith in Christ.
We may lack the latest gadgets, the best furniture, the spacious house, or the newest car. We may be in deep debt or dire straits, but we can choose contentment in the riches that are ours in the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Let’s pray today to be content with our life and to keep our faith fixed on Jesus Christ.
March 2
Christian Failure
“The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.” Psalm 37:23-24
Don’t equate failure in the Christian life with losing your salvation because you didn’t earn it in the first place. You may fall flat on your face, but just don’t stay there. Get up and grow forward. Stay in fellowship with your Lord Jesus and others who are also seeking to live a life in the grace of Christ, just remember that the next time you are down look up to your Savior and He will lend you His hand.
Don’t dwell on not stumbling, but firmly walking with the Lord. If all we think about, talk about, and worry about is keeping from failure we will surely and repeatedly fail. Instead, delight in the Lord’s grace and walk one step at a time.
Let’s pray today that we will not give up on ourselves because our Lord has not given up on us.
March 3
Remembering God’s Leading
“I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.” Psalm 37:25
We often forget the way our Lord has led us in the past but in remembering we strengthen our faithfulness. The advantage of aging is to be able to look back and recall the times we thought it was over for us, but yet years later we are sitting in review of God’s leading. All that we’ve worried about, the things that once consumed us, now lie in the dust of the past.
Next time we find ourselves worried about making ends meet, it will do our faith good to do a quick survey of the Lord’s leading in our past. Then realize that just as He brought us through past tough times He will do it again.
Let’s pray today that we may praise our Lord for walking with us throughout our life and into our future, too.
March 4
Thinking on Scripture
“The law of their God is in their hearts; their feet do not slip.” Psalm 37:31
The human mind is going to consider doubts, but don’t harbor them, instead think on God’s Word. When we meditate, contemplate, study upon the verses, chapters, and stories of the Bible we are filling our hearts and minds with such righteousness that wickedness will have no foothold. Thinking on Scripture will transform our mind and our walk of life will be led by the word of God.
Keeping our thoughts off of self and on the Scriptures is how we should fill our hearts. Just as a constant diet of nutritious food, day in and day out, builds a healthy body, so does a constant diet of God’s Word, build a healthy way of life.
Let’s pray today to be faithful in placing the words of God in our thoughts, daily.
March 5
The God Physician
“The Lord sustains them on their sickbed and restores them from their bed of illness.” Psalm 41:3
The Lord is as a physician investing knowledge and care into the ill condition of the one in need. Not only is Jesus God with all wisdom of what’s best for us, but He is all compassionate because He has been where we are in humanity and is fully aware of the pains and limitations that have consumed mankind through Adam’s fall. As Jesus healed on earth, so He still does and yet will do.
Physicians are a blessing and although they do the best with their medical knowledge and experience with the symptoms, it was the Great Physician who called Lazarus from the grave and gave life to death.
Let’s pray today for the Lord’s will in our healing, knowing that ultimate restoration comes in Heaven.
March 6
God’s Attention
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1
There is no waiting to get God’s attention because He is present and aware of your situation and sorrows. God is your run-to place when troubles overwhelm and He is the very go-to source for the strength you need to cope. Don’t wonder too long why the God who created all things seems silent, but know He is present with a purpose and a way of escape.
Troubling times may leave us weak and even paralyzed with indecision, but our initial reaction to any woe should be to turn to the Lord for strength. As we seek solace in Him we’ll have His attentive help and we’ll have hope again.
Let’s pray today that we remain thoughtful of our Lord’s closeness and compassion to our circumstances.
March 7
Our Greatest Testimony
“Sacrifice thank offerings to God, fulfill your vows to the Most High, and call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.” Psalm 50:14-15
We often find our greatest witness out of our greatest troubles because that’s our greatest testimony. Whatever the Lord has brought you from or kept you from is the very story that needs to be heard by others who in similar circumstances need to know that Jesus Christ will deliver them just as He delivered you. You have a testimony of Christ’s deliverance and someone needs to hear it.
Our greatest testimony of God’s mercy toward us is not always in a situation improved but sometimes it is our witness in a journey of sorrows. Thankfully, our God is a God of deliverance and that is the reason we call upon Him.
Let’s pray today that we may have opportunity to honor God as our deliverer.
March 8
Our Sinful Heart
“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” Psalm 51:10
The intent of our heart is not holy and prone to do evil, which is why we all need the Spirit of God. We can mean well, we can strive to do well, but the truth is that if left to our own base human desires we will find a way to do wrong. Sinful human nature must be countered with the influence and power of the Holy Spirit through prayer and God’s word.
When you seek the forgiveness of the Lord for whatever sin you may slip on, don’t neglect to ask Him to recreate within you a new heart with a renewed passion to steadfastly walk by faith. That is a prayer the Lord loves to answer.
Let’s pray today that we may not neglect guarding our motive and thoughts with the word of God.
March 9
Prayer of Restoration
“Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.” Psalm 51:11-12
The prayer of the saved is not one of redemption from lostness, but one of restoration to joy in His Spirit. Like a child we can only be birthed once, but maturity is a work of a lifetime, from childhood to old age. When we sin we pray for forgiveness, when we fall we pray for strength to stand up, and we often pray for restoration in our Savior’s joy.
There is a sense of joyfulness in being in harmony with Christ and there is an absence of nagging guilt when we are right with the Lord. Which is why we pray for a willingness to follow the Lord and trust in His power to sustain us.
Let’s pray today that when our faith fades we will run to Christ for restoration of fellowship with Him.
March 10
Future in Jesus
“You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.” Psalm 91:5-6
Keep your heart and mind set on the promises of God and stop feeding your fear with troubles that are not yet. You know that Jesus saved you on Calvary’s cross, that God loves you, and the prophecies of Scripture promise the Lord’s return and your eternal life in Heaven. Evil may harm you, but it can not hold you, because your future is with Jesus Christ.
Revelation assures us that the final seven plaques will not strike against those who follow the Lord, just as in Egypt they didn’t fall on God’s people, so even as we think of the end of all things we have no reason to fear.
Let’s pray today that we may turn our apprehension over to our Lord in faith.
March 11
Love for God
“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.” Psalm 91:14
God does not deliver us from evil because we are righteous in keeping His commandments, but because we abide in His love. We do not disregard His commandments, but we rightly understand them in the biblical plan of redemption and in their fulfillment in the life of Jesus Christ. God is not obligated to us because of what we do, but because of who He is.
We are rescued from our trying predicaments because we are faithful to accept and follow in His love, as children of God. We are protected because He is our Heavenly Father and we love Him because of the grace He has bestowed upon us.
Let’s pray today that we may focus our worship on God’s love for us and ours for Him.
March 12
Our God Hears
“He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.” Psalm 91:15
In loneliness we cry out but no one is there or in our sorrow no one cares, but not true with our God. People may not be there for you, but your Lord is. Family may not help you, but your God will. Friends may forsake you, but your Savior is closer than any friend can ever be. The Lord God who rules the universe is more attentive to His children than any new mother could ever be.
When the Lord answers our prayer, when He is with us in our troubles, when He delivers us from evil, He is honoring His righteous character. The Lord shows Himself faithful to His own word when He hears His children call on Him.
Let’s pray today that we may never doubt our Lord’s readiness and willingness to answer our prayers.
March 13
Sins to Calvary
“as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.” Psalm 103:12
In faith, we leave our sins at Calvary and that is where they get carried to the grave with Christ. When you struggle with sin, take it to the Lord Jesus Christ through prayer in faith and believe that your sin is removed far from you, because it has been left in the tomb where your Lord arose. Believe, not because you feel so but because you know so by the word of God.
It is in keeping these promises of forgiveness before our thoughts and heart that we strengthen the cords of faith in Christ. We are not to rehearse the sins that burden us but we are to meditate upon the promises of the Lord that He has removed them from us.
Let’s pray today that when we sin, or find ourselves struggling with sin, that we take it straight to Calvary.
March 14
Reward of Heaven
“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants.” Psalm 116:15
God does not cause evil to happen, but it doesn’t happen without us being better off than if it didn’t. Nothing happens without God’s knowledge, but that doesn’t mean He causes it. Even when death steals life from our loved ones, it doesn’t happen unless the Lord God allows for a greater reward and an everlasting benefit to all involved. Our loss on earth is our reward in Heaven.
When you consider that we will spend more time in Heaven than we have on earth, and death is merely the conclusion of this mortal span of years, waking up to immortality in the resurrection to forever be with our loved ones will be worth it all.
Let’s pray today that we may live as a people whose permanent home is in Heaven, not earth.
March 15
Man’s Opinions
“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” Psalm 119:105
Only the clear word of the Bible can stand the test of time against man’s opinions when it comes to our journey to Heaven. Please do not assume that a religious tradition, liturgical practice, or popular social cause is the path toward eternal life. God’s Word is the light for the darkness that hides the dangers meant to trip us up in our walk with the Lord.
We may hear an array of voices speak on spiritual matters, but our only safeguard is to listen to God’s Word. When we set our allegiance on the simple promises of Scripture, not on man’s opinions, we will have a sure path to build our faith on.
Let’s pray today to always uphold the word of God as our standard and foundation of faith.
March 16
Stop Stumbling
“Great peace have those who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble.” Psalm 119:165
If we keep the Prince of Peace center in our life we’ll have an anchor to keep us from getting carried away. The Enemy of Souls doesn’t care how we stumble in our Christian faith, he just seeks to trip us up in hopes that we will turn back from following the Lord Jesus. It is by prayer and the study of Scripture that we remain unfretted in a lawless world.
As we understand God’s Decalogue and its guiding value to our walk with the Lord today, we can live our lives without stumbling over every offense Satan throws at us. With eyes and heart’s fixed on Jesus we can confidently move forward by faith.
Let’s pray today that we may keep our heart and mind on the life and word of Jesus Christ.
March 17
In the World
“the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” Psalm 121:8
The salvation of the Lord goes with you wherever you go, whether you are in a church sanctuary or in the world. You are not anymore saved being in a Christian environment than you are being in a secular workplace. We may feel more comfortable in conducive environments where our faith is not challenged, but our witness is greater in the world.
The Spirit of God does not abandon you to wait outside while you enter a workplace, a sports arena, or even an immoral establishment. God’s watchful eye is always on His saints and they are never without His presence.
Let’s pray today that we go through the world in full confidence of our Lord’s power to keep us close to Him.
March 18
Grief to Joy
“Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy.” Psalm 126:5
Tears seem uncontrollable in a season of grief, but God remembers every tear we shed. Life on earth offers plenty of sorrows and many opportunities to cry, but it is during these times that we can take heart that our Lord comforts us in loneliness. God longs for the day when we will be far removed from weeping, when our sadness will turn to joy.
We can’t always see beyond our tears, or find hope beyond our hurt, but it is these times that we must lean on God through faith. The promise is sure and the day will come when we will forever trade our tearfulness for joyfulness.
Let’s pray today that we may find comfort in our Lord’s presence and long for Heaven’s joy.
March 19
Lasting Vindication
“The Lord will vindicate me; your love, Lord, endures forever—do not abandon the works of your hands.” Psalm 138:8
The timing of our God is not always our timing, but His timing is always perfect and enduring. We may wonder if we’ll ever be vindicated against lies and heartaches perpetuated against us or if the truth on a matter will be made known and acknowledged by those who doubt us but take heart that the Lord is still at work.
The Lord’s wisdom is usually the reason for our waiting, even though we easily get restless and long for the end of our troubles. God’s love for us does not wane while we wait and His redemption is not hindered by the timing.
Let’s pray today to trust in the timing and wisdom of the Lord in making all things right.

Search for Safety
“but whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm.” Proverbs 1:33
The Bible believing Christian is not surprised by the signs of our times, nor are they dismayed by society’s sudden decline into sinful acceptance. We have listened to the Lord and we are content with faith in His promises. We watch the events unfold like leaves falling in due season and we find peace because our Father God wants us home, safe and secure.
In times of fear, uncertainty, or disaster we have the privilege to seek out those who are searching for hope and escape from harm’s way. Pray for them and if we can, wrap the love of God around them.
Let’s pray today that we may live in the safety of the Lord’s love so we may share it with others.

Trust in the Lord
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
We are sinful humans so let’s not trust in our own intelligence to figure out divine things, let’s trust in the Lord. Our hearts are wicked and bent toward sin, which is why we must trust in the word of God as the only standard of truth. We cannot rely on a convincing argument or the majority opinion to determine what is right and what is wrong — we can only trust in the clear word of the Lord.
We acknowledge God and submit to His all-knowing eternal wisdom by not trusting in our own feelings when what we think is contrary to God’s Word. Feelings are like a caboose on a train, they are not required but the engine is.
Let’s pray today that we will make trusting in the Lord our daily habit in all areas of life.

Honor the Provider
“Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops” Proverbs 3:9
We choose to honor the Lord or to disrespect the Lord by how we receive and use what He provides. All wealth, gain, talent, abilities, and skills are from the Lord God and by returning a portion to Him through a dedicated Kingdom use, we acknowledge Him as our Provider. We receive what He gives in thanksgiving and express our gratitude in order to give glory to Him.
Everything we have is because of God’s mercy and our attitude toward Him should reflect that in our appreciation for what we have. Every relationship, the shelter above our heads, the food on the family table, and the work of our hands is by God’s mercy.
Let’s pray today that we may give glory to our Lord by returning a portion of what comes from Him to His work.
March 23
Fear for Tomorrow
“Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked, for the Lord will be at your side and will keep your foot from being snared.” Proverbs 3:25-26
Evil may be ready to ruin your plans but don’t let it threaten your future before it even strikes. Life has enough things to cause us to worry and we often start bending our thoughts toward worse case scenarios. Resist adding to your what-if list with troubles that haven’t materialized yet, when you have the promise of the Lord to be by your side.
Do not fear for disasters or any circumstance that can harm when you can turn your eyes of faith on the Lord. When our heart and mind is fixed on Jesus we will find it more difficult to trip on fear or be snared by anxiety.
Let’s pray today to find comfort in our Lord’s presence, despite what the future holds.
March 24
Dark Times
“The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.” Proverbs 4:18
We live in dark times and men’s hearts are overcast with thick clouds of sin, but in Jesus we have light. In Jesus we have light that dispels the darkness. We know truth from error because we have the light of God’s Word. When we are guided by the clear discernment of Scripture, we are not easily fooled by the angry emotional arguments of the godless.
Our guide is the light that shines from Calvary. The light of our Lord’s righteousness and by that we are transformed from understanding to wisdom, from sinners to forgiven followers. In that light we become as dependable as the daily rising of the sun.
Let’s pray today that we may find clarity in these dark times by staying in the light of Calvary.
March 25
Snare of Sin
“The evil deeds of the wicked ensnare them; the cords of their sins hold them fast.” Proverbs 5:22
The effects of sinfulness are not always obvious immediately and that is its ultimate snare. Sinning becomes a habit that grows stronger and bolder until it eventually manifests itself out in the open unashamed. You can’t hide sin or suppress its guilt for too long, but you can replace it with repentance and forgiveness at the foot of Calvary.
Unless an unwanted sinful habit is halted by a traumatic event, it can only be replaced by a habit of faith that involves strengthening your relationship with the Lord. Meditate on the promises of God’s Word and dwell on His grace.
Let’s pray today that we may seek forgiveness for every sin in our life at Calvary’s cross.
March 26
God Loves You
“I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.” Proverbs 8:17
God loves you, but He does not force you to love Him, rather as we see His love we are drawn to seek His love. We are not programmed as robots without any free will choice in our love. He loves us because He is Love, and it is in that loving expression of grace and forgiveness that we seek Him and find His open arms.
God promises to reciprocate your love for Him. We are not forced to jump through hoops in order to get God’s attention or to win His favor as man often requires of relationships. God loves you and is waiting for you to acknowledge that and find Him.
Let’s pray today to be quick to welcome His open arms of love through grace and forgiveness.
March 27
Glorify God
“A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy person keeps a secret.” Proverbs 11:13
The evidence of wisdom is not in what we say to glorify self, but in what we don’t say to glorify our God. When we live Spirit-led lives, we filter our thoughts through our relationship with Jesus Christ, rather than through our own ambitions. We become more concerned about being trustworthy before God, not impressive before people.
We should want to be someone others can trust and depend on, especially when another entrusts us with knowledge of their silent struggles. What a witness we can give in glorifying God in valuing another’s trust and relationship.
Let’s pray today to be faithful to our Lord and not be so quick to share another’s confided shame.
March 28
Getting in Giving
“A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” Proverbs 11:25
It’s impossible to help another without helping yourself because in giving there is receiving. We often receive a blessing in our efforts to bless another, though that wasn’t our intention. When we contribute our resources, time, and energy for the well-being of another there is a healthy sense of well-being that is transferred to ourselves.
We have the example of Christ Jesus to follow, just as He had peace in doing for others by setting His own needs aside, so can we. Our motive can’t be to be recognized or awarded, but to give as Jesus did.
Let’s pray today for a willing heart to help others as we are capable, knowing that we do that unto our Lord.
March 29
Speak Honestly
“Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment.” Proverbs 12:19
It’s easier to speak honestly and avoid inflated views of ourselves when we know we have eternal life. Having an eternal perspective to the temporal things of earth gives us courage to stay faithful to God in our communication, our behavior, and in the words we use. As saints of the Most High we have reason to respond honestly.
Those without regard of God may resort to lying manipulation in hopes of an immediate gain, but they are merely assuring their own demise. Those who walk with the Lord are mindful of His saving grace and are assuring their eternal life.
Let’s pray today that we may speak truth in honest and considerate ways to encourage others.
March 30
Honesty With Self
“The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy.” Proverbs 12:22
One tells a lie because they are unwilling to be honest with themselves, and will not be honest with others. You can not expect loyalty from a liar, for they are not even loyal to themselves, and certainly unfaithful to the Lord God. Without repentance and the blood of Christ, a liar will not see Heaven because an untrustworthy person risks disharmony among the saints.
Christ’s followers will not spend eternity with evil people, which is why the judgement is as much for the saved as for the unsaved. The same books of record that offer proof of faith in Christ’s righteousness, will show evidence of denial of Christ’s grace.
Let’s pray today for forgiveness from lies and untruths and let’s be faithful to claiming the grace of Calvary.
March 31
Backslidden Heart
“The faithless will be fully repaid for their ways, and the good rewarded for theirs.” Proverbs 14:14
Remain involved in Christian fellowship and you will reap the benefits of Christian association. If you hang out with criminals it won’t be long until your opinion of crime softens. You may struggle with perfect attendance or conflicts with schedule, but guard your heart against disloyalty toward the bride of Christ.
Be the church wherever you are, but don’t backslide in your heart by ceasing to gather together with others who desire to grow in grace and in His Word. We will all reap from where we’ve sown so invest in the things of God if that’s what you wish to reap.
Let’s pray today that we would persevere in our loyalty to the fellowship of Christ.
