Feeling Loved
“Better a small serving of vegetables with love than a fattened calf with hatred.” — Proverbs 15:17 NIV
A patient’s family was telling me about their home when they were growing up. They said the neighborhood kids always hung out at their house and that it wasn’t uncommon for them to come home and find one or two neighborhood kids sitting in their living room eating milk and cookies with their mother. As we were laughing about it, one of the family members said, I always felt like our home was a safe place where they could find love.
People tend to intuitively know where they are loved and who it is that truly cares about them without having to face constant criticism. There is an old adage that says, It’s easier to catch bees with honey than with vinegar. We may not wish to gather the neighborhood kids to our house, but we can certainly attract others to our influence and trust when we go about our work in love.
This week, put your best foot forward by allowing your love for others and what you do lead in your work.
