God’s Help
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7 NIV
A hospice nurse was at the beach, contemplating her spiritual yearning for God’s intervention in her life, when she was distracted by a small child and his dad.
They were walking across the beach toward the parking lot as the small child was struggling with a pale he was dragging behind him in the sand. The dad kept asking the child if he could help, but the child insisted on carrying it all by himself. The nurse watched as this dialogue repeated itself over and over as they drudged through the sand with their beach gear on the way to their car. Suddenly, the nurse said it hit her that she was witnessing her own situation which she was just contemplating and she was that small child.
How often do we wonder why we are struggling or dealing with difficulty? How often do we wonder where God is or why He hasn’t intervened, when in actuality we are the ones denying His help and insisting on doing it ourselves? Let’s remember that God is present and He wants to help.
