Guarding the Heart
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” — Proverbs 4:23 NIV
We often talk of the heart as the seat of emotions or attraction. A couple speak of falling in love as the other stealing their heart. Our endearment to something is explained as a heartfelt experience.
We must guard what we allow our hearts to get exposed to because we have limited capacity to how much we can actually do in a day. Once our heart is set on something, our whole being gets behind it to make it a reality in our life.
A life that is best lived is one that has focused on success with a few things, rather than a mediocre relationship with many things. We guard our hearts because it saves us from burning-out in meaninglessness instead of staying focused and meaningful for others.
